Camp Soveya is an extraordinary sleep-away program for young ladies who are struggling with their weight
and are motivated to make real changes.
Camp Soveya is One-of-a-Kind
Camp Soveya provides an incredible mix of fun, excitement, inspiration and motivation. We
offer a comprehensive approach to weight loss and nutritional guidance in a nurturing and supportive Torah environment. We guard the confidentiality and respect the sensitivity of all
our campers.
Camp Soveya focuses on changing behavior over the long term rather than just seeking short-term
results, improving self-esteem and outlook, as well as physical appearance.
Have loads of fun, lose weight,
and feel great about yourself!
About Camp Soveya
Camp Soveya's approach to a
healthy lifestyle is grounded in Torah principles for self-growth and backed by scientifically sound nutritional guidelines.
Healthy Diet: Campers will enjoy a diet that is
nutritious, delicious, and satisfying. Camp Soveya
equips campers with the skills they need to make healthy choices for the rest
of their lives. They have in-depth nutritional education from Certified
Nutrition and Wellness Consultants and culinary classes with a professional
chef. Girls learn how to prepare their own meals and shop for the right
foods. They develop the ability to eat appropriately during Shabbos and when
outside the home, such as at simchas and Yom Tov meals.
Fun Activities:
Our program
is full of ruach and has activities that girls love. Indoor and outdoor events will give campers energy and enthusiasm for physical activity. Hiking on scenic nature trails, aerobics, dance, sports and personal training in a state-of-the-art fitness center are just some of the activities included.
Lifestyle Change:
In-depth workshops address key triggers that lead to unhealthy behaviors
with food and weight gain, such as eating when stressed, or bored, or while
doing homework or talking on the phone. Campers learn positive coping skills to
replace emotional eating, and develop the knowledge and desire to permanently
change their habits and lifestyle.
Shiurim:
Campers will be blown away by dynamic speakers and inspiring stories of sustained
weight-loss success. Rabbi Eli and Mrs. Zakah Glaser share their personal
experiences of losing a combined 250 pounds, and offer the insight and
motivation that have made them internationally sought-after speakers on the
Torah approach to proper weight loss and behavioral change.
One-on-One Attention:
Rabbi and Mrs. Glaser, both Certified Nutrition, Wellness, & Weight Management Consultants, meet privately with campers to coach them with their individual issues
with food and help develop a personalized strategy for long-term success.
Transformative and Inspirational
Health & Social Concerns
Studies indicate 89% of overweight adolescents become obese adults, resulting
in increased risk of:
Shorter life span Social Isolation
Heart disease Infertility
Stroke Depression
Diabetes Low academic and work performance
Cancer Low self-esteem
The
latest medical evidence shows that children and teens are experiencing
health problems due to excessive weight, even before reaching
adulthood. The longer the issue is left unresolved,
the more difficult it is to change.
The
time to act is now.
Continuing Success
When camp is over and the girls return home, Soveya offers ongoing Weight Management Groups, providing continued guidance and motivation, weigh-ins, and goal setting. By helping girls transition from camp to their everyday lives, these weekly phone meetings give campers the opportunity to turn their new behavioral skills into lifelong habits, and allow girls to continue the strong relationships they built with Soveya staff and with camp friends.
